Alan Paine is a superlative English heritage brand which was founded in 1807 by William Paine. The company is often credited with producing the first cable knit jumpers which were sold to cricket clubs. Paine had the idea of producing the sweaters in club colours and met with great success. It wasn't long before the organisation had developed a fine reputation for its knitwear and eventually had the honour of fashioning woollies for royalty and then the armed forces during World War II.
In the 1950's William's son Alan took the helm and masterminded significant expansion by developing trading relationships overseas. Alan Paine cable knitwear and sweaters in luxurious yarns met with great success. Today the company's knitwear is still much sought after but Alan Paine have broadened their focus and in 2009 launched a country wear collection featuring traditionally inspired pieces for the outdoor life fashioned in quality fabrics and with an appealing earthy colour palette.
At Country Clothing and Store we are delighted to feature Alan Paine in our range. The collection offers beautifully cut garments and accessories for both men and women, many in the finest tweed cloths. Jackets, coats, skirts and trousers offer stylish practicality and the collection has rapidly acquired a fine reputation for outstanding quality at very reasonable prices.
Alan Paine country wear continues the brand's valued tradition of producing fine clothing in the best fabrics and yarns. The collection offers exceptional heritage styling with a modern twist for country life today and tomorrow and we are proud to feature Alan Paine in our range.
